Water Collection
In the village of Ariligo, about 25km’s from Honiara the water has been diverted. This occurred during tension times in the early 2000′s and has never made it back to the village. The women of Ariligo spend up to four hours a day collecting water from a stream 2km away, just to have enough water for their village. The neck breaking labor is often carried out in bare feat across hard rocky ground.
